Bees to Start the Season at Browns Stadium on Saturday

Don’t forget to share your photos from the game on Brecksville Patch.

The Brecksville-Broadview Heights Bees and the North Royalton Bears will face off for the Golden Shoe again this weekend, but this year’s season opener is a bit more high-stakes than usual.

The Bees will be playing in the Cleveland Browns' Stadium.

The game will be part of the 2012 High School Football Charity Game, which will start at 2 p.m. Youngstown’s Cardinal Mooney and Cleveland’s St. Ignatius high schools will face off at 7 p.m. According to a press release, this is the 44th year for the charity game, and the proceeds benefit the Cleveland Browns Foundation and the four participating schools.

Last year, the Bees took home the Golden Shoe, beating the Bears 31 to 26.

Coach Jason Black said in an email that the game against North Royalton is always a big one, but having it at the Browns stadium makes it “extra special.”

According to the district website, tickets are on sale now at Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School or Star Sports for $10. At the game, tickets will be $12.

The Bees Athletic Boosters shared this event on our site: a bring-your-own-breakfast celebration at the middle school. The breakfast is scheduled to begin at 10:15 a.m.

A full season schedule can be found on the team’s website, along with an in-depth season preview.
