Brecksville Gets Ready For The Holidays

The city has kept busy this month with tons of events for children and families.

For $7, families got breakfast and children had the chance to ice cookies, color and let Santa know what they wanted for Christmas.

The Brecksville Christmas parade, tree lighting and bicentennial kick-off took place on Dec. 5. After the parade, choirs from the community and the high school sang traditional Christmas carols. Here, the Brecksville Center for the Arts Community Choir performs.

Much of the city has been covered in lights since the holiday season began. In Public Square, residents have also been able to hear festive music playing.

The Annual Children’s Christmas Play took place on Dec. 11 and 12. The actors in the play are city employees and their children, and city officials, including the mayor, write the play. The lines and songs were recorded. Here, the city’s prosecutor, Sergio DiGeronimo, acts out his solo as the abominable snow gnome in this year’s play, The Little Christmas Mouse.

The Brecksville branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library opened its doors Saturday and filled one of its rooms with gingerbread-house-making supplies. Pete Trybus of Broadview Heights helps Zach Trybus keep his house together while Nicole Trybus adds some finishing touches to hers.

Brecksville certainly knows how to get into the holiday spirit.

Between a Christmas tree lighting, a parade, a fireworks show and an annual children's play, the city has been busy. Kids also had the chance to eat breakfast with Santa at the Community Cente r and make their own gingerbread houses at the library.
