The Broadview Heights Giant Eagle was created to be a green building, with a solar roof, traditional skylights and lights that capture and focus natural light, said Rob Borella, senior director of marketing and corporate communications for Giant Eagle. The store also features all of the latest trends Giant Eagle has to offer, from the fresh food offerings to a well-stocked health and beauty section. It also includes a two-story café with seating for 100 and free Wi-Fi, a dry cleaner, a photo processing center, a florist and a Huntington Bank branch.

The store features a variety of fresh-made food, like a salad bar, a personal pizza station, a sub shop, handmade sushi—“You name it,” Rob Borella said. Plenty of samples will be available in the first few weeks, with regular sampling opportunities after that.

The health and beauty section is designed to be a store within a store, said Rob Borella. There is an on-site dietician, a pharmacy and a host of products that might be hard to find in a typical grocery store, like perfume.

The new style of signs placed throughout the grocery aisles helps direct customers to the type of product they want within a larger category. For example, in this aisle with oils and condiments, there is a section of “natural & organic” goods highlighted.

This cooler is located near the express lanes and includes staples like milk, eggs and drinks for customers who don’t want to take a full trip through the store.

The store might not be in Brecksville, but the construction of the new Giant Eagle in Broadview Heights has certainly affected the city.

Brecksville’s Giant Eagle closed its doors for good Wednesday evening. Employees at that store were given the option to move to the Broadview Heights location—about 35 did, assistant account executive for Landau Public Relations Devin Hughes said in an email. Some employees from other Giant Eagles also transferred, and another 250 jobs were created by the new store. Landau Public Relations represents Giant Eagle in the Cleveland area.

The new 83,000-square foot store will open its doors at 7 a.m. on Thursday, with an official ribbon cutting at 9 a.m. Brecksville Patch took a tour on Tuesday before the store opened, so click through the photos above for a sneak peek inside.

A representative from Giant Eagle emailed me to point out that the on-site dietician won't be at the store every day, so customers will have to check ahead. Does anyone have other questions about the new store? Has anyone stopped by yet?
