Shortcake is looking for a home!
Barb Wible writes: “Looking for a fun-loving dog that the whole family will enjoy? Then you’ll want to meet Shortcake, an adorable 1 year-old Pug/Lab mix female. This girl is one of the happiest pups we’ve ever met. She really knows how to enjoy life and lives to play, play, play! Everyone is her friend—both people and other dogs. We don’t know how she ended up as a stray at a crowded county dog pound but she’s putting all that behind her and is looking forward to starting a new chapter of her life with a great family. Shortcake would be a great dog for an active family with kids to play with. She’d also love to go for long walks and hikes—a couch potato she is not! Shortcake has a beautiful coat that is so soft and feels just like velvet. She weighs about 35 pounds and her adoption fee is $150. Shortcake is spayed, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up-to-date on vaccinations, wormed, and on Frontline Plus flea and tick preventative. All Canine Lifeline adoptions come with a two-week trial period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email info@caninelifeline.org if you’re interested in Shortcake.”

About a month ago, we asked readers where they go when they’re looking to adopt a pet. A few readers suggested Canine Lifeline, so that’s where we turned!

Barb Wible houses most of the dogs in need for Canine Lifeline—the all-volunteer organization doesn’t have a physical location, so the dogs relay on foster homes until they’re adopted.

Most Saturdays, Canine Lifeline sets up shop from 12 until 3 p.m. at the Petco in nearby Macedonia. Wible said there are usually 50 to 60 dogs in the program at any given time.

Canine Lifeline focuses on getting a good match between families and dogs, so there’s a two-week trial period for all adoptions, Wible said. Adoptions are $150 for dogs between 6 months and 7 years, and $100 for dogs older than 7. If anyone’s interested in Shortcake, fill out an adoption form on the Canine Lifeline website and bring it to Petco on Saturday.
