City To Apply for Recycling Grant, Continue Internet Auctions

Brecksville City Council met Tuesday evening in . Here are a few interesting items you should know about:

  • Council members voted to allow to continue this year. The auctions allow the city to make some extra money off of no-longer used property, like office furniture, and vehicles. Purchasing Director Becki Burlingham said she was “very pleased” with last year’s auctions.
  • The city plans to apply for a $4,000 recycling grant from the Cuyahoga County Solid Waste Management District. If the city gets the money, they’d like to buy some recycling containers for places like Public Square or the athletic fields, said Director of Public Services Ron Weidig.
  • The is plugging along. The main line is done now, said City Engineer Gerald Wise, and the construction company is working on connections. Council voted to increase the purchase requisition for Donald G. Bohning & Associates Inc.’s services by $15,000. The company charges hourly for Wise’s work on the project. The original requisition of about $28,000 has not been spent yet, but the change helps ensure that the bill doesn’t exceed what had been set aside.
