Help Available at the High School Following Student’s Death

Counselors are on hand if students want to talk.

Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School wants students to know that the counselors are available if they want to talk about the death of their classmate, Natalie Szczurek.

Students have been sharing memories of Szczurek on Twitter the past few days, and some have been asking when the school would talk about it.

Counselors followed Szczurek’s class schedule today, said school psychologist Shelley Bohrer, letting students know that they were available if they wanted to talk. They also met with students one-on-one and in small groups.

The school wants to respect the family’s wish for privacy, Bohrer said.

Bohrer encouraged parents to discuss Szczurek’s death with their children, noting that “it’s difficult,” but important.

So very sad. I didn't know this person at all, but it is always so very sad to see someone so young pass.

I too was saddened as I read this and was left wondering, as "Curious" asked, how she passed. Seems the reporter forgot to mention.
I hope the family finds comfort and peace from friends and the kind words that were left by many in the guestbooks. She must have been a wonderful person.

"Seems the reporter forgot to mention. "
Do people like you who spout this ever THINK first? A reporter will always ask this, unless a statement released said they will not disclose cause of death at this time. Or perhaps an autopsy needs to be conducted.
How about some common sense.

Does every one of your posts responding to someone have to be an attack? This is NOT the obit listing, BUT an article concerning her passing, and there were comments in the article about the need for discussing this with our children, and I would hope that if an article is written, it would be complete. As you said "A reporter will always ask this", but there is no explanation of that here.
Troy, have some manners and learn to be civil.

Did you read the sentence that the family asked for privacy? There are times, such as this, that the public does not need to know. I do know that if I were grieving the loss of any family member, let alone my child, the last thing that I would be doing is speaking with a reporter. Basically, it is none of your business. And no where in Troy's response did I see an "attack".

OMG!
Why is it a person can't ask a simple question? And, I am sure many other readers are asking the same question. The question is NOT out of line for a news article. But, this article shouldn't be creating debate. For some reason, people on Patch have found a place to vent their negative emotions and anger.
As for Troy's ATTACK- "people like you", "spout", and just go read all the comments he writes on Patch. He is a bitter, unhappy person.

To change the tone, may I just say to the family, again,
I am sorry for your loss and may you find peace with friends and family.

Lyn -- LEARN TO FREAKING READ and people like me wouldn't come along and allegedly "attack" you (stop your freaking whining -- are you 12 years old or something? It's always the "I'm being attacked" cry). Oh, and the always-fall-back "he's bitter and unhappy.". Could you be any more dumb? Grow up and learn to read.

I'm very happy and not bitter. Start thinking of ORIGINAL responses. Preferably after you learn to read, whiner.
