Updated, Nov. 29: The holidays are getting closer! Here’s a quick look at some of the festive activities coming up around town:
- Children can learn how to make their own gingerbread house at the Brecksville Branch of the Cuyahoga County Library on Dec. 1. The drop-in program will take place from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. and no registration is required.
- The Christmas parade and tree-lighting ceremony begins at 4 p.m. on Dec. 2. If you want to take part in the parade, applications are due by Nov. 19.
- The annual children’s play will take place on Dec. 8 and 9. The city’s bulletin advises that seats are free, but go quickly—families should call the Community Center for reservations.
- Santa will visit the Community Center on Dec. 20 and 21! The bulletin suggests calling the Community Center for details.
Update, Nov. 29:
- Children can get some photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Brecksville Town Center from 12 to 3 p.m. on Dec. 1. According to a press release from The Snider Company, the Clauses will also be bringing some reindeer for the day. Photos will be $6 for one and $10 for two; proceeds will benefit the Yuletide Hunger Program.
- The Snider Company is also hosting a holiday coloring contest for children 12 and younger, according to the release. Forms and entry boxes are available at stores throughout the center, and the deadline to enter is Dec. 22. Prizes will be awarded at random to finalists in a variety of age groups, and one random entry will win a family get-away package for Sawmill Creek Resort in Huron.
- This year’s Gingerbread House Decorating Contest will be held from Dec. 17 to 21, according to the city’s website.
And the Yuletide Hunger Program has begun collecting food and donations. The program helps families in the area around the winter holiday season. The Sun Star-Courier has a list of drop-off locations.
Thanks. We'll email you the next time we update this story.
