Last Chance: Taxes Are Due on Tuesday
Have you filed your taxes yet? Tell us in the comments.
That’s right—if you haven’t filed your taxes yet, time is almost up.
Taxes are due by midnight on April 17 this year, so any procrastinators have a couple of extra days.
The IRS has a full page of tips and information for taxpayers who want to file online. (Here’s the page you need if you plan to download the necessary forms and send them by mail.)
The Ohio Department of Taxation has “Filing Season Central,” a helpful page with electronic filing options and downloadable forms. The department also lists a toll-free number that taxpayers can call if they have questions.
The U.S. Postal Service also has a handy checklist of the paperwork you’re likely to need when filling out those taxes. Taxes have to be postmarked by April 17; if not, they’re considered late. If you need extra time, the Independence post office is open until 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. For a full list of nearby post offices, check the site.
Still not sure if that will be enough time? The Huffington Post has a helpful article on how to file an extension.
