Local Landscapers Give Back in ‘Neighbors Helping Neighbors’ Program
The Brecksville Beautification Committee puts the program together.
Earlier this summer, two Brecksville residents received yard makeovers courtesy of the Brecksville Beautification Committee and local landscaping companies.
Kathleen Roberts, a member of the committee and co-chair of the Neighbors Helping Neighbors program, said this was the eighth consecutive year for the program. Each year, the committee chooses two to three residents to help them clean up their yards. The residents can be nominated or they can inquire on their own behalf.
Human Services Director Ted Lux sent in the photos from this year’s program. The photos were taken by Roberts and Jeff Krejci, the co-chairs of the program.
All the work was done on a Friday in June by local landscapers, who donate their time, materials and labor, Roberts said.
“There isn’t a single penny that’s exchanged,” Roberts said.
This year, the work was done by Wave Landscape Development Company and Rossi Landscaping, according to a press release. The landscapers pruned and removed shrubbery at the homes, repaired a walkway at one and moved a birdbath at the other.
“It’s such a feel-good program,” Roberts said.
Anyone interested in learning more about the program can contact the Human Services Center or the Brecksville Beautification Committee. According to the press release, the program is open to senior citizens or individuals with disabilities.
