Low Turnout So Far for Schools Renewal Levy

The Cuyahoga County Board of Elections estimates that less than a quarter of registered voters have cast a ballot as of 2 p.m.

The polls have been quiet but steady today, poll workers at City Hall and the Cuyahoga Valley Career Center said earlier this afternoon.

The Brecksville-Broadview Heights schools community is voting on a 6.8-mill renewal levy for the district. The levy brings in more than $5 million for the district each year.

The Cuyahoga County Board of Elections estimates that about 13.9 percent of registered voters in the Brecksville-Broadview Heights City School District had cast a ballot as of 2 p.m. Community Outreach Manager Dennis Anderson said this number was based on a sampling. The figure does include vote-by-mail ballots.

Bill Kovacs, a poll worker at City Hall, said the traffic was slower than March’s primary, but that it was better than he had expected.

“It’s a steady flow,” Kovacs said.
