Nancy Apostle, center, was named the Citizen of the Year at the State of the City Address on Wednesday. Apostle is known for her giving nature, her work to bring her neighborhood together and her efforts to support local charities and Brecksville businesses. Apostle created the charitable and social group Women of Woodlawn, also known as WOW, in the Woodlawn Estates neighborhood after the flood of 2006. Nancy leads the group which meets monthly to share neighborhood news and plan fundraisers for all kinds of charities. The group also encourages members to support area businesses and shop local. She talks at the meetings and emails various updates to members on local businesses--new business openings, specials or events they may have going on.
