The following incidents were reported by the Brecksville Police Department on Oct. 8 to 14. The information was compiled from police reports.
A possibly political disagreement
A Riverview Road resident called police on Oct. 14 after his Barack Obama signs had been destroyed. The man, who lives in the 8700 block of Riverview Road, said his signs had been taken before, so he cemented and welded them into the ground. But whoever wanted the signs down was not deterred—he or she had cut them out of the frames. The resident didn’t have any idea who had done it. The resident said he had noticed that the signs were destroyed as of 7 a.m. on Oct. 14; his neighbor had told him that he noticed the damage at about 11:30 p.m. the night before.
An officer noted that no other Obama signs were destroyed on the street.
A falling apart tire leads police to marijuana, alcohol
At about 5:47 p.m. on Oct. 8, police pulled over a van on Brecksville Road after noticing that one of its front tires was falling apart and leaving debris in the road. The driver, a 57-year-old Canton man, told the officer that he was trying to find a service station to buy a new tire. He told police that his license was suspended, and, after police confirmed that he had multiple suspensions on his license, he was placed under arrest. When police went to talk to the passenger, an officer noticed an open can of liquor behind the driver’s seat. The inventory search also turned up a prescription bottle filled with marijuana. The driver was charged for possession of marijuana, for open container, for driving an unsafe vehicle and for driving under suspension.

Just pathetic that a resident can not have signs up to express their opinion in their own yard without them being damaged.
