Larry Doyle and Stacy Kanaga Profitt walked a half-marathon around Brecksville and Broadview Heights on Friday to inspire students to be “healthy and active for a lifetime,” a phrase they have made part of their motto as physical education teachers at Central School.

The walk is the teachers' way of helping to inspire the students' participation in the Hoops for Heart tournament. Students raised more than $8,000 for the American Heart Association in the tournament this year.

After the walk, the students gathered on Central School’s lawn to listen to some speeches on the importance of being active from those who took part in the half-marathon, like Doyle and Broadview Heights Mayor Sam Alai. The walk is open to members of the community, who could join the walk for all or part of the day.
