School Board, Unions Set to Vote on Tentative Agreement on Monday

The Brecksville-Broadview Heights school board will meet at 5:30 p.m. at the middle school.

The months-long contentious contract negotiations between the Brecksville-Broadview Heights Board of Education and the Brecksville-Broadview Heights Education Association and Organization of Support Staff could be coming to an end.

The teachers and staff unions and the school board came to tentative agreements earlier this week, and all parties are set to vote on them on Monday. Details on the agreements are not being released at this point.

The Brecksville-Broadview Heights Board of Education will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Monday at the middle school and, according to the agenda, will vote on both tentative agreements. Todd Jaeck, labor relations consultant with the Ohio Education Association, said in an email that the unions also planned to vote on the tentative agreements on Monday.

The parties have been negotiating since March. In June, the school board halted the negotiations and announced plans to bring in a federal mediator. In July, the teachers union passed a strike authorization vote; the support staff passed one in August. The parties reached a tentative agreement early on Wednesday.

School starts for students on Wednesday.

Lets see, the majority (60%) of teachers did not get a raise, and won't for about 6 years. That will show them! I can't imagine why the district is having trouble getting new teachers because they have been turning down district job offers. Some for other districts and at least one without another job offer for teaching.

Frank, for someone who doesn't know what's going on you sure call a lot of folks liars. Inferior math teacher? I guess you would figure anyone who could put together a grammatically correct sentence and with proper spelling as inferior. That is the typical response of a bully. Although most give you a pass for drinking too much, I still think you should be held responsible for what you say.
