Scott Wayne Was Not Under the Influence at Time of July’s Fatal Accident
The medical examiner’s verdict shows that the cause of death was blunt impact.
Scott L. Wayne was not under the influence when he died in a car accident in July, Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner Thomas Gilson said.
Gilson said there were no signs that Wayne, 18, of Brecksville, had been drinking alcohol before the fatal accident. Wayne died early in the morning of July 29 when his vehicle hit the old Red Brick Store building on the corner of Chippewa and Brecksville roads. The building houses the Burns Financial Centre.
According to the medical examiner’s verdict, Wayne was declared dead at the scene. The manner of his death was undetermined, and the cause of death was blunt impact to his trunk and extremities with visceral, vascular, skeletal, and soft tissue injuries.

My heart still breaks for his family. While I'm sure this report brings relief that he was not under the influence, it does not answer what caused him to crash. I think about him and his family every day when I drive pass the building and hope they find peace in their memories and their love form him.
