There hasn't been much news lately, but plans for the new Marc’s store are moving forward. The rendering from ADA Architects above shows the planned design for the front of the building.

According to the minutes from the Sept. 6 Planning Commission meeting, the design will include three different styles of brick, two types of siding, six shopping cart corrals and 392 parking spaces. Plans for outdoor lighting and signs will come at a later date.

What do you want to know about the new Marc’s? Leave your questions in the comments.

I agree with the above comment. I wish we had our Giant Eagel back. If it needed to expand, there obviously was the space, considering the amount of space Marc's will have. The new Giant Eagle in Broadview Hts, is too large, and the aisles are too small for 2 carts to pass each other. I also think that for the older customer, it is very overwhelming and too large to navigate. We need are old, little Giant Eagle back!

I didn't choose to live in Brecksville so I could shop at Marc's. I know our mayor favors the elderly and doesn't put children and families at the forefront of planning. However, Marc's is known for hiring felons and other undesirables that cannot find employment elsewhere. Putting our children at the bottom of the to-do list is one thing, but putting them in danger is another.

I choose to live in Brecksville because it is a wonderful community and offers many benefits, including various shopping options. I shop at Marc's, as do many of my friends and neighbors and I look forward to them coming here. If you choose not to you'll be missing out on a lot of great products at excellent prices. I have also heard that they will have a Corbo's Bakery in-house which will be a nice addition to the city. To suggest that Marc's hires "felons and other undesirables" is horribly insulting to the many employees Marc's has as well as slanderous. I think that your children might be in more danger from their mom's narrow-minded, uninformed, snobbish attitude than from the woman at the check-out counter or the young man who helped me with my overloaded cart in the parking lot yesterday afternoon. Yours are the kind of comments that give my city a bad name.

I am willing to give Marc's a chance to prove itself. Goodness knows Giant Eagle was absolutely horrible (expensive, depressing inside, the laziest customer service possible). We never went there unless it was absolutely necessary.

To Beeville Mom's point about the mayor, I too feel he privileges the elderly vs families. Look at the walk ability of the city, or lack thereof. Nothing has been built to encourage any physical sense of community. Developers have left an unchecked legacy that the city ends up fixing (water drainage, for example). I feel it is narrow-minded leadership.

It's gonna be a sad day on openin day of Marc's. There goes the neighborhood. Time to move.

such snobbery !... It's almost comical. I love Marc's, but if it's too beneath you, Heinen's is right across the street and much nicer than Giant Eagle.

We shop at Marc's. Sometimes we go to the one 4 miles to the east in Sagamore. Other times we go to the one 5 miles to the west in Broadview Hts. Nothing wrong with getting your groceries there just don't need a 3rd one in Brecksville. The mayor stated that Traders Joes, Earth Fare and Whole Foods all did market research and decided we did not have enough draw at our location. I'd like to see that data become public because it sounds fishy.

WOW, there is a lot of reaction to Marcs. I agree that we should be able to see the "market research" that states we don't have enough of a draw for good things like Trader Joes or Whole Foods.....just take a look at how well Burntwood Tavern has been received in BRK....that tells you that this community is 'hungry' for upscale businesses!!!! The mayor may have an agenda - do ya think???

Marc's isn't a bad store to shop at. I have never had a bad experience with any of the employees and if you like spending more money go to Heinens or Giant Eagle (obviously some of us think moving to brecksville is a change in social status and like to spend more money just because they can.) I can guarantee you will get through this and you'll most likely be at the store from time to time.
