Leah LaCrosse of Huron City Schools leads a presentation on technology and education. LaCrosse discussed a variety of different tools people can use to supplement lessons, such as Twitter, EdModo and Skype. The tools can be used to connect teachers with other teachers, and classes with other classes across the country. LaCrosse suggested Twitter for professional networking, and Skype for helping students interact with classes in other areas.

Rather than being reprimanded, people were applauded for Tweeting and using their laptops and iPads during sessions at EdCamp Cleveland at Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School on Friday.

EdCamps are less formal than traditional conferences; participants create the agenda at the beginning of the day and then take part in interactive sessions that are more like conversations than presentations. The event was free and open to anyone interested in education. Many of the day’s topics dealt with technology and education, and participants were encouraged to try taking notes on iPads (their own or borrowed for the day) or laptops.

Brecksville Patch was in attendance as a sponsor.
