Tremont ArtWalk and More

Cleveland has a bustling art scene. See some of it during the Tremont Art Walk this Friday.

Get ready to hit the art scene in Cleveland. The Tremont ArtWalk is starting at 6 p.m. this Friday.

The ArtWalk has been going on in Tremont for more than 15 years, and it takes place on the second Friday of every month. Artwork by local artists is featured in about 30 different venues, from restaurants and bars to galleries, stores and boutiques. A map is available on the ArtWalk website.

One of the great things about the ArtWalk is that it’s casual and accessible. You don’t have to be “artsy” to participate. You can just grab a friend, lace up your shoes and walk from location to location. But this probably is an event to check out without the kids, since not all of the artwork may be family friendly.

Make sure to stop in Paul Duda Gallery’s  Tremont location. You could also check out the paintings, sculpture and baubles at Eye Candy or stop by Lilly Handmade Chocolates, which specializes in pairing fine wine and beer with their handmade chocolates.

It looks like Solomon Foto D-Lux Gallery has a great party planned for the ArtWalk this Friday. There will be DJs providing music and work by local artists, some of whom I'm acquainted with, such as Brecksville's own Carl Behrens. I know Behrens through through Studio B and events at the Brecksville Center for the Arts

While you’re in Tremont, you should have dinner at one of the many outstanding restaurants. Fat Cats has an upbeat but laid-back atmosphere and delicious dinner entrees for around $20. They also have a swanky bar if you just want to talk and have a drink. Ty Fun with its fresh take on Thai food is sure to be noisy and crowded. But the food is an incredible combination of spicy, tangy, modern and Asian and a dinner is around $15 to $20. Make sure you call ahead for reservations, or you probably won’t get a table.

Ask the babysitter to come over early, so you have enough time to see everything. The ArtWalk starts at 6 p.m. and many galleries are open until 10 p.m. Most of the bars and restaurants stay open later, so check with individual establishments for their hours.

Thanks! I didn't realize the art walk started so early, I would have missed it! Great article. I've done the walk many times and your description is perfect! If you can avoid driving (or getting a designated driver) there's usually plenty of free wine at the galleries :)) Some galleries also put out appetizers.
