VA Medical Center One Step Closer to Closed

The center won't serve patients after this week.

There was a for the 50-year-old facility, which is closing this year. The majority of the services have already been relocated to the in downtown Cleveland, but some outpatient services had remained.

The new Parma outpatient facility opened late last month, and as of Saturday, all remaining outpatient services will be transferred there, Public Affairs Officer Ashley Trimble said in an email. A few employees will remain at the Brecksville campus for a bit longer.

The city plans to redevelop the campus in the future. Mayor Jerry N. Hruby said that retail would likely be a part of the redevelopment .
