It seems as if Brecksville residents are split about the new Marc’s store in the Brecksville Town Center.
The store is local chain’s first since its rebranding, according to Marc’s officials.
Known for its low prices, the store features fresh produce, meats and organic food — as well as a cold-cuts counter.
The store at 7510 Chippewa Rd. opened in the space most-recently occupied by Giant Eagle. That grocery store closed in 2011. The new Marc's store is larger than the Giant Eagle was — interior renovations and construction gave Marc’s an additional 16,000 square feet for a total of 46,000 square feet.
Given its prominent location, the store has drawn mixed reactions from Brecksville residents.
We thought we’d see what you thought of the new store. Take our poll below, or tell us in the comments.

Aisles are too narrow. Only one cart down them at a time. Exit door too backed up with registers right across from the door and not enough room to navigate when getting a cart. Everything is so squeezed. Broadview Road Marc's much nicer. Corbo's bakery and deli counter a plus. Parking lot is a nightmare. It has been since they changed the configuration. Trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. Very disappointed that this is in Brecksville. Felt like I was in Parma or Garfield Heights.

Aisles are too narrow???? How big are you? You have got to be kidding me! Do you work for Giant Eagle or Heinens? Do you have nothing better to do than complain about a grocery store? Get a life!

I thought the aisles were about right sized,it took 5 minutes to get lunch meat cut and rapped...I assume the meat people will be replaced or trained better. I was really looking forward to an upscale Marc's like we were told but maybe upscale meant shiney and new.

Fantastic!!! It's so nice to have a local place to compete with over-priced Heinen's and Giant Eagle on those everyday items. If some in Brecksville want to keep their noses up, Heinens is still there with their high prices. But some of us want more value for our money and are willing to put their image aside.

I've always felt that Heinen's is about QUALITY and personal service, and those are what create their "image". Yes, quality can cost a little more sometimes (because it's not so MASS PRODUCED) and it is worth it--however their prices are very competitive with Giant Eagle's on everyday items and it evens out... What I don't understand is why Brecksville got a Marc's with two others not so far away (Sagamore Hills and Broadview Hts) Many residents would have preferred a Traders Joe's...unfortunate that we did not meet their criteria...

Very nice--sure beats the dumpy old Giant Eagle that was there before. Oh and don't forget that Great Freight or whatever it was--that was there for years and was a dump. Marc's is a nice store and it will add a nice value alternative for the community. I don't understand all the snobbiness about Marcs given the history of the trashy retailers that used to be there. Oh well...

Agree...it was a nice surprise. Not a bad store, but doesn't seem too much different than the other Marc's. nice deal on Kindle Fires. I purchased one for my daughter.

I visited Marc's for the first time in Brecksville yesterday and wasn't suprised to see it is an almost mirror image of the dump up the street. Although it is comforting to know that anyone can go buy underwear, socks, or pants while shopping for grocery's. They did an excellent job of hiring a TON of high school students that were on site to help which actually made the store appear even busier than it was.
It's comforting to know that my city which was once considered a step up to live in has finally taken a slouch chair desperate approach in bringing in exciting places to shop. Of course that goes right along with the pathetic approval of Brecksville's shopping center parking design the city approved allowing the basic minimum space just so the owners can squeeze 5 more cars in. And I would not be suprised to see double deep discount outlets where the VA is in the near future.
Grab you beers and Dorito's boys and girls and sit back to enjoy the show...our city name has now changed to Breckstucky.OH

I forgot to mention - when we asked an employee where an item was, the gentleman escorted us to the location on the shelf. I think he could have been a manager. This was a nice touch they most likely picked up from Heinen's. While in the bakery section near the counter, we saw a bakery employee come from behind the counter to escort a shopper to a location for an item they too were looking for. That seemed like a nice touch too. But to rain on that parade, when this bakery employee left her station from behind the counter, another employee made an extremely rude comment about her co-worker leaving her station. Kudo's for helping a customer. 27,000 rotten tomatoes to the face of the rude co-worker. What do you expect....this is not Hudson...it's Breckstucky OH and 2 days into a new opening and already co-workers are bad mouthing each other....nice touch!!!.

Get over yourself, fool.
Marc's has ALWAYS hired high school kids. And get over yourself just because it's Brecksville. You're right -- you're not Hudson. Brecksville was NEVER Hudson and never will be Hudson. It's not even an apples to apples comparison.
Not to mention, it's laughable to think that someone who was in Marc's ONCE their clueless commentary would actually be taken seriously.

I'm the fool?
Maybe you think it's ok as a customer to hear an employee of the store you are shopping in talking disrespectfully about another within ear shot of customers as being ok, I don't! It is a direct reflection of what their work ethics are like. And if they don't like YOU as a customer, I'd be careful and keep a keen eye on the order they personally prepared and hand over to you.
And it might be best to start thinking about how this place will effect what's across the street. Sure, the new Marc's will bring in a ton of traffic and give Heinen's a run for sales. Given enough sales at the new place and non sales across the street causes business to pick up and move. And when that happens, there's tax loss and other revenue loss.
When there were a slew of questions and resident were told that the new Marc's was different and would NOT look and act like the norm, everyone sat and waited. Well the wait is over and you can now buy clothing and put them right next to your cupcakes.all in one location. Just like the others!
Mark my words...it won't take long before the place looks like the others. And with a non union workforce being paid minimum wage, expect to see more than normal turnovers.
And can anyone tell me, why in heaven's name there was a Brecksville policeman positioned in the store? Does it have that bad of a reputation for theft that within the 1st week of opening it requires police protection? Wonderful tax dollars at work.

You really seem to be digging deep to find issues with this store. You even seem to have an issue with friendly service. If you don't like Marc's, don't shop there. If you had a better idea for the site you had a chance to get a business plan together and finance your dream. Obviously this store is upsetting you and as it is a sign of the beginning of fall of Brecksville. So, I would like to suggest that while you are on the patch website, you take advantage of the real estate section and find that nice little place in Hudson. I would consider it a win-win situation. Better hurry before the neighborhood really turns.

Wow, Joe See... you are one sad and miserable person. Is everyone in Brecksville like you? The tax dollars that Marc's is paying to Brecksville will easily pay for the officer adding a security presence to the store. You would be the first person to file a complaint if something happened while you were in that store. How much in taxes was the vacated Giant Eagle paying to your beloved Brecksville? I can't wait to read your lame, snobbish remarks back to me!

Maybe Joe See preferred the Great Freight outlet that used to be there?? Oh boy, that was a sweet retailer! Confucius say "He who live life with nose in air walk right by good things in life"...

I've been to the new Marc's twice since its opened. Nice clean store, wide aisles and the checkout clerks have been friendly. Shelves are stocked. I feel it's an upgrade from the old giant eagle store that was there.
On the downside I hate the new parking lot. If you drive anything larger than a compact car, it's a tight squeeze. And it appears there are fewer handicapped parking spaces than before.

I stopped in to pick up a couple of things and to check out the prices. Milk is a good bargain at 2 for $5, disappointed in the variety of produce but I suspected that as I shop either Heinens or Miles Market for produce. General items such as canned goods - broth, beans seemed to be a bargain. I bought some dates that were a good buy at $2.49 a pack which are usually $3 or more but they tasted horrible and had to throw them out. As far as the hardware and miscellaneous items it will be convenient to have a local place to pick up something like that up rather than run to Lowes.

@Lee..sorry to hear about your produce disappointment and sorry to hear how you spent good money on dates that looked good but tasted like trash. Guess it goes with the territory of where they came from, a trashy store.
@Kramer..I was in the store the other day with my nose up in the air as I walked past the bored policeman. Yep, what an outstanding store we put in the center of our city that requires an officer for protection. Odd too was how empty the parking lot was and how little people there were in the store. As I exited the parking lot across from Heinen's, I couldn't help noticing how packed their lot was. I wonder why? Maybe because their dates are fresher, or maybe because their parking spots are wider. Or maybe because they take pride in the produce they purchase and put out. Or just maybe it was because the store does not require a policeman to patrol the isle or protect themselves from the outrageous crime rate in our city.
I think we should make Marc's in Brecksville the poster child of our fine city's efforts to encourage young family's to move here. Maybe a huge billboard with that nice policeman in Marc's waving from inside the store.

I am a former employee of Marc's Breksville store and I hate to say that not only did they trash talk a lot but they only scheduled me once a week and the last month working there they called me off everyday told me they didn't need me. As if I don't need a paycheck.

Attracting the wrong crowd. Brecksville is a tight community and has no need for drawing people from other communities in. I enjoy the quaint and quietness of the community and prefer high end or mom and pop shops. The store is an eye sore to the community. Disappointing.
