Brecksville-Broadview Heights Students Arrange Own Music for Orchestra Performance

Brecksville Little Theatre Offering ‘Little’ Youth Theater Program

Informational auditions are slated to take place in the Brecksville Little Theatre at 1 p.m. June 1 at 1 p.m.

The Brecksville Little Theatre is looking to offer a “little” theater experience for the city’s youth. A summer youth theatre program is slated to offer Brecksville kiddos — aged ages five to 15 — a theatre experience. Informational auditions are slated to take place in the Brecksville Little Theatre Building on Oakes Road at 1 p.m.  June 1 at 1 p.m. Workshops will begin at the Blossom Hill location in late June or early July, and will culminate in three performances of “The Wizard of Oz” at the Old Town Hall on Aug. 16 through Aug. 18. According to a news release, there may be a “modest charge” for workshop materials. “Parents may be asked to help where needed,” according to the news release. 'The Fantasticks' Wrapping Up at Brecksville Little Theatre

The longest running show ever on Broadway will wrap up in Brecksville this weekend, with 8 p.m. shows on May 10 and May 11.

If you haven’t caught "The Fantasticks” at the Brecksville Little Theatre, don’t sweat it. There's still a couple of shows left. The 1960 musical — with music by Harvey Schmidt and lyrics by Tom Jones — tells tells an allegorical story concerning two neighboring fathers who trick their children, Luisa and Matt. The longest running show ever on Broadway (42 years), "The Fantasticks” will wrap up in Brecksville this weekend, with 8 p.m. shows on May 10 and May 11. Theater on the Square Offers Summer Camp 'Adventure'

Young thespians can learn the trade during their time off of school.

While the recent spring break camp is over for the Brecksville Theater on the Square, it is time to register for the two-week summer day camps. This year the theater is celebrating "The Great Adventure" featuring music from Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Tangled and more. Find out how to register. Children from kindergarten to grade 11 are invited to attend the two-week camp from July 15-26. Each registered student will recieve a camp t-shirt and two complimentary tickets to either the matinee or evening performance for their group. Glenn Miller Orchestra Coming to Town

Tickets are $20 pre-order and $25 at the door.

The world-famous Glenn Miller Orchestra is making a stop at Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School.  Hosted by the high school’s band boosters, the event will take place in auditorium at 6:30 p.m. May 9. The high school’s jazz ensemble is the opening act.  The Glenn Miller Orchestra has its roots dating back to the 1930s.  Tickets are $20 pre-order — and can be purchased online — and $25 at the door.  Call 440-838-4885 for more information.

Track the Easter Bunny on His Way to Brecksville

Websites promise to keep tabs as he hops our way with goodies

  Kids can track the Easter Bunny on his journey to Brecksville Saturday with help from some websites.  At this site, trackeasterbunny.com, there are games and coloring pages, as well as a tracking page that starts March 30. We also found this online tracker that shows a satellite view of the Bunny's hideout and says it will start following his progress March 30.  A site called TheBunnyTracker.com promises to keep kids up to date on the rabbit's progress as he hops around the world. And there's also an iPhone app for 99 cents that offers a map of where the Bunny is on his journey. Best bet to make sure he visits your house tonight is to leave out some carrots or lettuce. Book Sale Slated at the Brecksville Library

Sale is set to return March 15 and March 16.

The money raised from past book sales at the Brecksville Library have supported new furnishings for the library’s quiet study area, the Master of Library and Information Science Scholarships, branch digital cameras and picnic tables for the staff.  Those are just a few of the benefits.  Residents can also pick up a book, penned by a favorite author. The Brecksville branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library will host its public Friends of the Brecksville Library book sale from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 15 and March 16. There's also a preview Thursday for members. The money earned by the book sale is set aside in the “Friends” treasury and, the library manager requests funds from the book sales for programs and projects sponsored by the …
