Photo of the Day: New Eagle Statue Installed in Public Square

The statue replaces one that was vandalized and removed about two years ago.

Milano Monuments placed a new eagle statue on top of the veterans’ memorial in Public Square Thursday morning. City Council approved the replacement during Tuesday’s meeting. The original statue was vandalized in 2010, shortly after it was installed. The new statue cost $6,000, which was paid for using money collected from the families of the young adults who had vandalized the original. That incident happened before Brecksville Patch got started, but the Sun Star-Courier has a story on the incident and the apology after.

I think "members" is incorrect. There's no dues, or applications. There's no "there" there. They are "supporters", but not "leaders". What's your point?   more ›

Lakewood native Brandon Baxter expected to plead not guilty next week.

The lawyer for Brandon Baxter, a Lakewood man who is charged with four others of plotting to blow up a Brecksville bridge, said Wednesday his client was coached into participating in the scheme by an FBI informant working the case. Cleveland attorney John Pyle, who took on Baxter’s case this week, said his client would not have — and could not have — gone through with the plot if not for the FBI's involvement. Pyle said his client will plead not guilty next week. Baxter, 20, Douglas L. Wright, 26, Anthony Hayne, 35, Connor C. Stevens, 20, and Joshua S.
