Cancer Awareness, Peace Corps Service & More: Blogs on Patch

We've got blogs about everything from avoiding email scams to locals shoving off to make a difference in the Peace Corps. Check it out.

In learning the new Patch platform, we've learned that sharing blogs across all 17 Ohio sites has been a little tricky. Undoubtedly, there were some great regional blogs you missed this week because of that.

Here are a few of our favorites:

Avon-Avon Lake Patch blogger Matt Pawlikowski shares some startling statistics about the number of children in Ohio who are playing in the streets without shoes, not because they chose not to wear them, but because they don't have any. Amy Stossel is a new blogger on Beachwood Patch, and she wants to help inform women about ovarian and breast health through a cancer organization called Bright Pink. Find out where the first information session will be held here.

Another new blogger, Ana Lyn Sigler, is a Cuyahoga Falls native who was just accepted into the Peace Corps. She makes her way to Togo next week. Read more about her preparation and stay in touch with her while she's there here.

The Cleveland Foodbank shared its annual report with us in a new post. You may think, oh that's boring, but it's really cool, and interactive. Did you know your donations helped make more than 29 million meals? Awesome!

Lastly, new blogger Sean Coyne shares six ways you can avoid email scams. Read more about how you can protect your computer and your information here.
