Why Go: Parents can meet the faculty and learn about Montessori education for children between 18 months and 14 years old.

Where/When:  Hale Farm & Village, 2686 Oak Hill Rd., Peninsula; Today and Friday

Why Go: Students explore the social, political and economic impact of slavery as they follow the path of a fugitive slave running north to freedom via the Underground Railroad. Day programs at Hale Farm & Village are for students in grades 5 and up; evening programs are for students in grades 7 and up. To make reservations, call 330-666-3711.

Pricing: Day programs are $8 per student; evening programs are $12 per student.

Why Go: Also at Hale Farm & Village, students in kindergarten and up are welcome to compare and contrast sugar camps, tools, techniques and technology used in the sugaring process. They will also visit the Hale Sugar House and other sites to learn more about sugaring in the local community.

Why Go: This program was created by author/illustrator Laurie Lazzaro Knowlton of Medina. Children 8 years old and up will usher in spring as they learn the basics of paper engineering and create their own pop-up books. Registration is required.

Where/When: , 9305 Brecksville Rd., Brecksville; from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday

Why Go: Be sure to bring your binoculars to get a glimpse of the resident eagles possibly incubating an egg or two.
