Author David Giffels to Speak at Brecksville Branch of the Library Wednesday

Author of "All the Way Home" will lead a program at the library Wednesday.

David Giffels, author of “All the Way Home: Building a Family in a Falling-Down House,” will visit the  at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Giffels’ home that he nourished to life is in Akron, not too far from Brecksville. That is where he ran into trouble with a raccoon, bad plumbing and discoveries in the walls.

“I realized that this wasn't so much a series of anecdotes as the story of how a family becomes a family, and how a young man (me) undergoes the often painful process of growing up, and how, as corny as it sounds, a house becomes a home,” Giffels said in an email about his writing process.

After discussing his experience and reading an excerpt from the book, questions will be welcome.

“It's always fun to hear other people's stories of misadventure,” Giffels said. “Makes me feel less alone, especially if I'm surrounded by people as impractical as I am.”
