Brecksville, Broadview Heights Filled With Art for the Month of April

The Bicentennial Art Tour showcases local artists' work.

All this month across the cities of Brecksville and Broadview Heights, salons, restaurants and banks have been turned into impromptu art galleries.

More than a dozen local businesses are taking part in the Bicentennial Art Tour, sponsored by the Brecksville Center for the Arts, Studio B and the Brecksville Bicentennial Committee. The tour is a chance to highlight at least 100 works by local artists, said Ann Rittman, president of the Board of Trustees for the Brecksville Center for the Arts.

There is no theme to the pieces, Rittman said: the tour is just a chance to highlight the local arts community. The pieces displayed are varied, she added, from photography to watercolors.

The is one of the participating businesses. Owner Gus Gallucci said they try to show local artists’ work in the restaurant on a regular basis.

“We enjoy being a patron of the arts in Brecksville,” Gallucci said.

And there’s an interactive aspect to the tour for arts enthusiasts. Rittman said there are “tourbooks” at every participating location that people can pick up and have initialed or stamped. If individuals get some sort of notation at each venue, they can enter a drawing at the Brecksville Center for the Arts during a reception on April 29.

According to information provided by Rittman, the following businesses are involved in the Art Tour:

Brecksville:

  • Village Cleaners

Broadview Heights:

  • Broadview Heights City Hall
  • Coffee Club
  • FirstMerit Bank
  • Huntington Bank

Editor’s note: One of the writers for Brecksville Patch, , is also a local artist. Her work is displayed at a few locations in the tour.
