Entries for the Chamber of Commerce's Holiday Decorations Contest Due Monday

The contest will highlight two winning homes.

The chamber has held a holiday decorations contest in the past, but it had been a few years, Judy Makowski said in an email. The chamber decided to encourage the community to get ready for the holidays by bringing the contest back. Current chamber president Rachel Torchia and her husband, Mike, won the last contest four years ago, Makowski added.

The is open to entries until 5 p.m. on Monday. According to a flier for the contest, decorations of all kinds can be included, and houses will be judged on qualities like originality, neatness and workmanship. 

Judging will take place on Dec. 15, and two winners will be selected—one north of state Route 82 and one south. According to the flier, residents can nominate themselves or a neighbor by emailing the name, address and phone number to chamber@brecksvillechamber.com. Include the words “2011 Holiday Lighting Contest” in the subject line. Winners will receive an ornament.
