Gingerbread House Season is Officially Here

Learn to make a miniature home at the library or show off your sweet concoction in the city's contest this year.

Get that frosting and those gumdrops ready—it’s gingerbread house time.

Whether you want to try your hand at a new craft or show off your skills in a friendly competition, there’s a gingerbread-themed event for you this month.


When: From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 10
Where:
Details: Build your own miniature house out of graham crackers, frosting, candy canes and other treats. Drop in to the Brecksville library any time between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. No registration is required. Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult. For more information, call the library at 440-526-1102.


When: Submissions will be accepted from Dec. 19 to 22
Where:
Details: The second annual gingerbread house decorating contest is right around the corner. Families are asked to make their own gingerbread houses and submit them during normal business hours at the Community Center. Judging will take place 6 to 10 a.m. on Dec. 23, said special events coordinator Kelly McNeill. A first, second and third prize winner will be announced. For more information, call the Community Center at 440-546-2300.
