Photo of the Day: Handmade Decorations Fill the Library With Holiday Cheer

The Emerald Necklace Garden Club decorated the holiday tree at the Brecksville branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library on Thursday.

Members of the Emerald Necklace Garden Club gathered at the today to decorate the library’s holiday tree.

The club has been decorating the tree for years, and each year the club chooses a different theme, said President Virginia Little. They’ve decked the tree out in cookies, snowmen and all-natural ornaments. This year, the club opted for handmade paper ornaments, all made by members of the club. The club meets on the second Thursday of the month in the Brecksville branch of the library.

The tree is mostly for the children in the community, said member Carol Kopf, catching their eyes and offering a learning experience. This year’s tree includes 10 to 12 different types of paper ornaments that children can try to make at home.

“There’s a lot for them to look at,” Kopf said.

Children can find designs online or in one of the books near the base of the tree.
