POLL: Is 'A Christmas Story 2' a Disaster or Genius?

The straight-to-DVD sequel has gotten lots of reaction but it's not pretty.

Not only is A Christmas Story a holiday classic, but it's a Cleveland favorite.

The original movie was filmed in Cleveland featuring the former Higbees department store and the home on W. 11th St. in the Tremont neighborhood of Cleveland has become a tourist destination.

Fans quote lines from the movie year round and revel in the marathon showings around the holidays.

Why would anybody would mess with the nostalgic tale of a boy's yearning for a forbidden Christmas gift. Warner Brothers says it's inspired by the work of Jean Shepherd, who wrote the book and narrated the original movie, but that didn't seem to comfort fans of the original movie.

Movie bloggers on the Washington Post, MSN, Tampa Bay Times and even Perez Hilton are united in hating the idea.

Comments on every announcement of the movie and the movie trailer on YouTube are overwhelmingly in the negative.

By the way, use extreme caution when reading the reactions to these announcements. While some are funny like, "I'm gonna shoot my own eyes out," others are laced with profanity.

Take a look at the trailer yourself and you tell us: Disaster or Genius?
