Staff members at the Brecksville branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library have some suggestions for local readers.

It may be August, but there’s plenty of warm weather left if you’re still searching for your new, favorite summer read. If you need suggestions, check out these recommendations from staff members at the .

This week’s adult recommendations were written by public services assistant Rachel Vaughn. The teen’s book recommendation was written by Teen Librarian, Diane Wilson.

The Peach Keeper by Sarah Addison Allen

Willa Jackson is finding it hard to heal in her hometown of Walls of Water, North Carolina. She’s traveled back to Walls of Water after a failed marriage but she just doesn’t seem to fit in anymore. Upon returning, she finds her family’s estate has been bought by a former classmate and as plans move forward to restore and open it as an inn, relationships are rekindled and mysteries are uncovered.

Ape House by Sara Gruen

Sara Gruen, author of the best-selling Water for Elephants, tackles the current reality-show era and animal rights in this emotionally charged fictional story. The super-intelligent bonobo apes at the Great Ape Language Lab are scientist Isabel Duncan’s life. After animal rights activists release the apes from the lab with an explosion, the animals mysteriously show up on a reality-show that broadcasts their every human-like emotion and action. Can Isabel save them from their unknown captors?

For teens:

Blank Confession by Pete Hautman 

Shayne Blank is the new kid in town--but that doesn't stop him from getting into a lot of trouble very quickly. The other kids don't understand him. He's not afraid of anything. He seems too smart. And his background doesn't add up. But when he walks into the police department to confess to a murder, it quickly becomes apparent that nothing is as it seems. Recommended for grades 8 and up.
