Will their shared love for music be enough to hold their friendship together and help them escape the racially charged South?

A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness
Diana Bishop is a Yale scholar and also a reluctant witch. She comes from a long line of prominent witches but prefers to stay away from practicing magic. While conducting historical research in Oxford’s Bodleian Library, she unknowingly requests a long-lost ancient manuscript that holds the comprehensive history of all supernatural beings. Recognizing its magic, she quickly sends it back, but it’s too late. The book’s reappearance has awakened an underworld and its residents are looking for Diana. A history professor herself, this buzz-worthy book is Harkness’ debut novel.
