This Week’s Book Picks from Your Local Library

Staff members at the Brecksville branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library have some suggestions for readers of all ages.

Summer’s a great time to take on some new books. If you’re looking forward to the start of the season, but are still working on your reading list, maybe the suggestions from the staff at the can help.

This week’s adult recommendations were written by public services assistant Rachel Vaughn. The teen’s book recommendation was written by Teen Librarian, Diane Wilson.

The Silent Land by Graham Joyce

Tragedy strikes when Jake and Zoe are buried alive in an avalanche while skiing in the French Pyrenees. Emily, Alone by Stewart O’Nan

Widowed and far away from her children, Emily Maxwell’s best friend is her sister-in-law, Arlene. Author Stewart O’Nan weaves a story of honest human emotion as Emily discovers a new and unexpected step in her life. This book is a follow-up to O’Nan’s 2002 publication, Wish You Were Here.

For teens:

Look for Me by Moonlight by Mary Downing Hahn

Cynda, feeling lonely with her father and his new family at their old Maine inn, takes solace in the attentions of a mysterious guest. Recommended for ages 11 and up.
