In 1915 Minnesota, Monte Becket, a down-on-his-luck writer, meets Glendon Hale, a charismatic outlaw, and decides to join him in his quest to find and reconcile with the family he abandoned years ago. With a vengeance-bent former Pinkerton agent hot on Hale’s trail, the two men journey west and encounter larger-than-life characters along the way.

Kraken by China Miéville

A rare specimen of giant squid mysteriously disappears from within the walls of London’s Natural History Museum and Billy Harrow, the museum’s young cephalopod specialist, unknowingly holds the key to finding it.
