Did you devour Stieg Larsson’s Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series? Try this crime novel by the unique Swedish writing team of Roslund (former journalist) and Hellström (former criminal). Piet Hoffman is an ex-con turned informant for the morally questionable Stockholm police. His latest assignment is to help derail the Polish mafia’s play to take over a local drug ring. Hoffman begins infiltrating the epicenter of the drug sales by posing as a convict in a maximum security prison, but when circumstances cause the police to blow his cover Hoffman becomes trapped inside, an easy target for everyone that now wants him dead.

Clara and Mr. Tiffany by Susan Vreeland

In 1893, Louis Comfort Tiffany unveils the first versions of what is to become the iconic Tiffany lamp. What if you were told that someone else was responsible for these famous designs? Meet Clara Driscoll, head of Tiffany’s Women’s Division in New York and the unrecognized artisan behind most of the beautiful stained-glass lamps. In a time when women were expected to stay in the background, Clara longs to receive credit for her work and in a company where getting married means getting fired, she is forced to choose between her love for her profession and her desire to be loved. Although this is a fictional novel, author Susan Vreeland brings a very real, little known historical character to light.

For teens:

Hoot by Carl Hiaasen
