Frugal Family: Back to School Deals

August 24 is the first day of school for many kids in the Brecksville-Broadview Heights schools.

Every year we say how fast the summer went. And yes, it’s that time of year again: back to school time. Here are some deals around town to help you get your kids ready to begin the school year in just a few short weeks.


Deal: Owner Walter Paris says that a complete pair of children's frames and lenses, with polycarbonate scratch and UV coating, are on sale for $129. Eye exams are also available, for an additional cost.

Deal: Get $10 off any online purchase of school supplies that's more than $50, plus free shipping, according to its website

Good Until: Available online only on orders of $50 or more, now through Aug. 14, 2011. You have to enter the coupon code "FREESHIP" at checkout.


Deal: Many school supplies are on sale for $0.99, including two-pack Expo Markers, four-pack Paper Mate EraserMate Pens, Sharpie two-pack pens and Sharpie four-pack highlighters. See the Walgreens website for other back-to-school deals and discount coupons on school supplies, as well.

4. Best Cuts

Deal: Get a coupon for $3 off any haircut when you sign up on their website to receive email promotions.

Good Until: Register on their website and allow 48 hours for coupon delivery.


Deal: Owner John Starinsky says that he's stocked up on Bees apparel, like T-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets and more. Online ordering will be available for the first time on their website later this month.
