Frugal Family: Father's Day Deals

Spending time with Dad is fun any day, but Father's Day is extra special.

Father's Day is this Sunday, so why not take Dad out for a special meal or a ride on a scenic railroad? Here are some deals around town to help you honor your dad this year.

Deal: Father's Day breakfast and dinner, which includes regular menu and prices, plus special entree choices including surf & turf, veal marsala or blackened salmon, according to the restaurant's website. Every Dad gets a scratch-off card for a discount or freebie. Reservations are recommended.

Good Until: Gourmet breakfast will be served from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m., and dinner will be served from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. on June 19.

Deal: Celebrate Pub and Grill. The menu includes items like omelettes or eggs Benedict, chicken marsala, a salad bar, French toast and fresh fruit. The price for adults is $13.99. Seniors and children 6 to 12 years old pay $9.99 and children under 6 are free. You can make reservations by calling 440-838-6455.

Deal: How does a Father's Day brunch of broasted chicken sound?  The cost for a two-piece chicken dinner is $9.50; four-piece dinners are $14.00. Dinner includes potato wedges, corn, green beans and coleslaw, according to the church's website. They will have apple pie for dessert for just $3.00. Children 10 and under pay just $2.75.

Deal: The railroad is having a Father’s Day Special, according to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park's website. There are six different excursions to choose from, including the Canal Explorer, which includes a ride to the Canal Visitor Center and a demonstration of a model lock, as well as exhibits on the Ohio & Erie Canal. Good Until: The Father's Day rate only applies on June 19.

5. Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens

Deal: The 54th Annual Classic, Antique & Collector Car Show, where more than 350 classic and antique autos will be on display, according to the hall's website. Tickets for non-members are $12 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6 through 17, and children under 5 are free.
