Frugal Family: Independence Day Deals

Next Monday is Independence Day. Here are some ideas for ways to celebrate, and some deals on items that might come in handy for your Fourth of July cookout.

Deal: What could be better than burgers on the grill for your July Fourth cookout? Heinen’s Own brand 85 percent lean ground beef is on sale for $3.59 per pound. They have Pepperidge Farm brand hamburger buns on sale two for $4. Heinz ketchup 32-ounce to 36-ounce Easy Squeeze bottles are two for $4 and Grey Poupon mustard in the 10-ounce bottle is on sale two for $5. All of this can be found in their weekly ad circular.

Deal: Festive and colorful plates, cups and napkins are on sale. There are 24 in a package for $0.99. They also have decorative flower arrangements and cemetery flowers for Independence Day that range from $0.99 to $2.99.

3. The Cleveland Orchestra at

Deal: The website for the Cleveland Orchestra indicates that the Blossom Festival Band will play patriotic music followed by fireworks. Tickets start at $19 for lawn seats and go up to $43 for box seats. Children under 18 can get in free, but must have a “free lawn pass,” which is available on the website.

4. The City of Independence

Deal: The website for the City of Independence indicates that they will be having their annual Free Fireworks display at Elmwood Park in Independence.
