Frugal Family: Show Your Brecksville Spirit

From shirts to playing cards, Brecksville-themed items can be found around town.

This year marks and it's a great time to show your Brecksville pride or to send a Brecksville-themed gift to an out-of-town friend. Here are some items that you can find for sale around town.

1. 

Deal: To promote school spirit, stop in to Star Sports. They stock more than 100 Brecksville-Broadview Heights Bees items and they have more than 40 Bees designs which they can transfer onto a T-shirt of your choice. Short sleeved T-shirts are $15.95 and long sleeved, hooded sweatshirts are $28.95, according to owner John Starinsky. You can see some of their Bees items on their website.

Deal:  Note cards by Brecksville photographer Neil Evans, which include prints of his photographs taken throughout the , are $4 each. 

Note cards by Brecksville artist Sophie Cayless, which include prints of her whimsical artwork portraying familiar scenes of Brecksville, are $3.50 each.

Deal: Brecksville bicentennial playing cards for $10. Each deck has 54 unique cards with historical photos and facts about Brecksville and Broadview Heights. They also have other items, including bicentennial polo shirts in red, white or blue. Short-sleeved ones are $18 and long-sleeved shirts are $20. Bicentennial hoodies are $27, baseball caps are $12 and insulated totes are $5.

Deal: Colorful photographs of the Brecksville Gorge and the Brecksville Gazebo are available as prints starting at $45, or printed on stretched canvas starting at $120.

5. Brecksville Bicentennial Committee

Deal: The website for the Brecksville Bicentennial Committee has nice Centennial and Sesquicentennial commemorative books that are available for free in .pdf format. These books give information about the history of Brecksville, including some information about the early settlers of Brecksville. This website has lots of other interesting information, including a calendar of bicentennial events.
