It's Fish Fry Season in Brecksville

We thought we'd list a few of them in case you're thinking of ditching red meat for the fish and chips.The Lenten season is here a little early this year.

That’s welcome news to Brecksville, with residents who cherish the fish fries in the city.

The annual tradition begins on Friday.

St. Joseph Church: The church offers a lunch menu and a dinner menu every Friday during Lent (no fish fry on Good Friday). Lunch is from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m., and dinner starts at 4 p.m. and lasts until 7. Lunch is $6.50 per person. Dinner is $8 per adult and $3.50 per child. The entree options include fried fish, baked fish and shrimp. Check out the church’s site for the full menu.

American Legion Post 196: The American Legion is offering a $6 dinner from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Fridays during Lent. The dinner includes two pieces of Lake Erie perch, coleslaw and French fries. For $7, you also get two pierogies and for $6 you get six pierogies. Children’s menu includes mac ‘n’ cheese and toasted cheese. 
“It’s cheap and it’s good,” Rhonda Janowski, president of the lady’s auxiliary. “We’re expecting to be busy.”
