We thought we'd list a few of them in case you're thinking of ditching red meat for the fish and chips. The Lenten season is here a little early this year.

That’s welcome news to Brecksville, with residents who cherish the fish fries in the city.

The annual tradition begins on Friday.

We thought we’d list a few of fish fries in case you’re thinking of ditching red meat for the fish and chips.

But, please, if we forgot any, post ‘em in the comments.

St. Joseph Church: The church offers a lunch menu and a dinner menu every Friday during Lent (no fish fry on Good Friday). Lunch is from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m., and dinner starts at 4 p.m. and lasts until 7. Lunch is $6.50 per person. Dinner is $8 per adult and $3.50 per child. The entree options include fried fish, baked fish and shrimp. Check out the church’s site for the full menu.

American Legion Post 196: The American Legion is offering a $6 dinner from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Fridays during Lent. The dinner includes two pieces of Lake Erie perch, coleslaw and French fries. For $7, you also get two pierogies and for $6 you get six pierogies. Children’s menu includes mac ‘n’ cheese and toasted cheese.
“It’s cheap and it’s good,” Rhonda Janowski, president of the lady’s auxiliary. “We’re expecting to be busy.”
