Life Force Counseling Focuses on Helping People, No Matter the Cost

The practice began about two years ago.

About two years ago, opened its doors in Brecksville.

The office offers individual and group counseling, as well as a Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender support group. Johni Fiber, one of the counselors at Life Force, said they noticed that there weren’t a lot of options for the LGBT community in the area, and they wanted to offer that support.

“That was really important to us,” Fiber said.

Fiber said they’d like to offer other support groups in the future, but the counselors wanted to wait and see what needs were prevalent in the area.

That adaptability is a key component to Life Force’s mission. The counselors charge on a sliding scale, allowing people to get treatment without getting insurance companies involved and helping them pay what they can afford. The minimum per hour rate is $35; the maximum is $100. The scale is based on income and the number of people in a household. The support group is available at no cost.

“It works,” Fiber said.

The counselors involved in Life Force all have their own areas of expertise, from anxiety disorders to addiction to couples and family counseling. And the counselors’ caseloads wax and wane, as all three have full-time jobs outside of the practice. That also means they offer weekend and evening hours.
