MetroHealth Eyeing New Hospital in Brecksville?

According to Crain's Cleveland Business, it's not out of the question.

The new CEO of MetroHealth said in an interview with Crain’s Cleveland Business that the hospital is considering expansion into the suburbs.

That could apparently include Brecksville, according to the newspaper.

As the plans develop, officials have been quiet on the specifics of the proposal, which could plant a MetroHealth hospital near Interstate 77 and state Route 82, between Brecksville and Broadview Heights.

MetroHealth CEO Akram Boutros told Crain’s that his crystal ball is “kind of fuzzy” but he expects MetroHealth to make an announcement within the next nine months.

But, if the plans move forward, the Brecksville facility could end up similar to the $23 million health center that recently opened in Middleburg Heights.

Officials at MetroHealth have not returned a request for comment on this story.

Brecksville Mayor Jerry Hruby said, like the rest of us, he is waiting for more details to emerge. He’s got a meeting scheduled with Boutros to further discuss the proposal.

“I think that it has a good possibility of happening,” Hruby said.
