Mini Cash Mob Coming to Peppermill on Monday

State Rep. Marlene Anielski's new group is designed to help support local businesses and connect residents.

Looking for a way to spend your lunch break on Monday?

State Rep. Marlene Anielski is hoping you’re willing to go blue—BluesNEO, that is.

The group’s name stands for Business Ladies United Economically and Socially in North East Ohio, but men are welcome at the events, too.

This Monday, BluesNEO will meet at the for lunch, starting at 12 p.m. The lunch will be buffet style, which will be available for a set price of $20.

The new group—Monday will only be their second event—is focused on supporting local businesses and helping to connect people in the region. The event is similar to a cash mob, where people gather at a local business with the sole purpose of spending money. Cash mobs have recently taken place in and .

BluesNEO isn't quite as big as a cash mob—Anielski jokingly called it a "coin mob"—but the all proceeds do go to the sponsoring business.

“This is our own economic recovery,” Anielski said.

The group is run by Anielski, with the help of local Chambers of Commerce and area leaders. There’s no budget, and invites and RSVPs are done by email. Each event will be a bit unique, as it will be created around that month’s business. The first two have been restaurants, but future events could vary.

For example, May’s event will take place at Foote's Valley Farm in Valley View. Later in the summer, the group may highlight a spa or other kind of business, Anielski said. The events are planned around a business’ slowest day of the week or week of the month—anytime that the extra business would be most beneficial.

If you’re interested in attending on Monday, email BluesNEO@gmail.com. And bring plenty of business cards.
