My yes vote isn't so enthusiastic as the pre-worded choice. However, I shop at Marc's now. I just won't have to drive as far. I am surprised, however, that another store, like Trader Joe's or the Mustard Seed or something like that. Marc's already has 2 locations within 5 miles of the center of Breckvsille.

I'm disappointed. Was hoping for Trader Joes or whole foods.

As a current Marc's shopper, I really look forward to being within walking distance of their new store. Heinen's meets my higher-end grocery needs, so I am happy with a more budget friendly option to take Giant Eagle's place.

I hope the Snider Company and the new Marc's management team can do a better job cleaning their store and the outside sidewalk and parking areas. Historically, Marc's stores fall short on the attractive factor and you could turn a blind eye on the mess to get a good deal but this one is in "my" backyard! We all thought that expensive renovation would bring a different sort of tenant. At least they are locally owned and I won't have to drive into that traffic nightmare west of 77!!
Disappointed April 13, 2012 at 10:34 PM
I'm not at all happy about Marc's coming here. Trader Joe's would have been a big asset to Brecksville....Marc's will probably just bring it down further. Why did Brecksville even bother re-doing the shopping center? Years ago when we had the better dress shops and men's wear, we seemed to be more of an upscale city. What happened? What do we now have we can be proud of?

To Disappointed: the economy is less conducive to smaller retailers. The reason there aren't any "better dress shops and men's wear" retailers is because people probably didn't shop at them...

I will not shop at Marc's and am very disappointed with this choice. As the poster above mentioned these stores are very dirty, they do not clean up their windows, trash, parking lots and overall have a very tacky look. I was happy to move out of sagamore hills after marc"s destroyed their shopping center. Also being in the medical field, I know Marc's is not a savings when it comes to the Pharmacy. Do your research on your own medicines and you will see that in many cases Marc's is the most expensive for prescriptions. It's just a perception that they are cheap because of some of the deals you can get on other items in the store.

I really liked having a smaller giant eagle in the center of brecksville. I don't lenjoy shopping at these new mega stores like the new giant eagle and will not drive into that traffic mess west of 77 so I will not be shopping there. I hope Marc's takes some business away from that store. Giant eagle as a whole has taken over cuyahoga county and I would like to see more choices. Trader joes would have been great and would have kept a more upscale feel to our little city, but at least Marc's is locally owned and a different choice then the mega giant eagle.

I can believe that Brecksville would allow a Marcs. What was the point of spending all the money to update the shopping center? For Marcs of all things. They are very dirty stores. Brecksville isnt the old Brecksville any longer. I remember when they fought Mcdonalds from coming into town.. Hudson would never allow this and that is what keeps that community nice and upscale. We already have a Marcs in Sagamore Hills and Broadview Hts. I dont feel this is good for Brecksville and will be a traffic nightmare to Brecksville Residents.

Is this a joke??? A Marcs is coming????? WHY???? Isn't there one down the street in Sagamore & also one in Brdv Hts??? I am EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED with this & plan to write the city. A Trader Joes, Whole Foods, or Mustard Seed would have been PERFECT in that location!!!!

Yuck, you say it isn't the same old Brecksville anymore and it needs to be kept upscale. And others have said this. Well, I'll let you new transplants to Brecksville in on a little secret - from the inception of the shopping center, it was home to Woolworths until the company went out of business. Oh my!! Isn't that disgusting? No!! That was the old Brecksville and somehow people still wanted to move here. And guess what? People in Brecksville shop at Marc's stores. If its good enough for people to shop at, then its good enough for the town.
lyn April 26, 2012 at 12:37 PM
Those stores didn't want in. Would you rather it be empty, or how about a Big Lots, or a Dollar General, Or maybe even a Goodwill store? At least with a Marc's store, you are getting a store that locals already patronize.

Hi everyone, have deleted a comment for profanity. Thanks.

The entire shopping center is a missed opportunity. Tear the whole thing down and make it a park featuring the Chippewa Creek and waterfalls that would put Chagrin falls to shame.
LTBR July 28, 2012 at 01:18 PM
What opportunity and what waterfall are you talking about treehugger?
jamie November 08, 2012 at 09:00 PM
Lyn, I'd rather the space be empty.
lyn November 08, 2012 at 09:51 PM
Then your other tenants move out, and the shopping center looks bad. Not good. You do not want empty storefronts. As I said before, they managed quite well for years with a Woolworths there and Brecksville survived.
