Brecksville Co-op Offers New 5 Day Pre-K Program

The Brecksville Cooperative Preschool, now its 60th year of continuous operation, has a long history of consistent quality including the focus on award winning education, family interaction and commitment to community.  The 2013-2014 school year will continue to offer these highest standards and will also offer a new program.  In the fall, families will now be able to send their preschooler (aged four or five) to a five day, half day pre-kindergarten program.  The program will embrace the core principles and curriculum of the Co-op, but the curriculum will also be enriched in the areas of language arts, math/logic and science.  The Co-op will continue to offer their award winning three year old preschool program which is held two days a week and their current three day a week pre-kindergarten program.

This change enables families the flexibility in scheduling, options in kindergarten delay and gives their child a three year Co-op experience when needed.  Families will now have a choice between sending their child to the current three day, half day option or to the new, expanded five day, half day option.  The five day program is available to children who are four and will enter kindergarten the following year or for children who are five and will also enter kindergarten the following year. Existing three year old preschoolers who attend the Co-op will receive automatic bids and preference into both pre-kindergarten programs.

We are community school.  We love and embrace the families who come to us from all over the area.  For years, we have had to turn families away who desired the Co-op experience due to scheduling restrictions.  We hope now, by offering the five day option, we will better meet the needs of our community while maintaining the integrity of the Co-op experience.  Whether a child is attending our three year old preschool program, our three day a week pre-kindergarten program or our new five day a week pre-kindergarten program, the heart and soul of the Co-op remain, we aim to give children their wings for a love of learning.  This heartbeat supported by families who love learning have carried us through all the ups and downs for the last sixty years.  This heartbeat will carry us through the next sixty years as well.
