A Few Roads, Park Trails Closed Due to Flooding in Brecksville

The past few days of extreme weather have been affecting the region.

Vaughn Road and Riverview Road, north of Vaughn, are still closed as of 11:54 a.m. after last night’s rain, said Betsy Kulp, a dispatcher with the .  

And the Cuyahoga Valley National Park has closed the entire Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail due to flooding, according to a press release from the park. That includes parking lots from Independence to Akron. 

The National Weather Service has a flood warning for Cuyahoga County until 3 p.m. The service is predicting just a slight chance of more rain today for Brecksville.

But Brecksville didn't see the impact of the storms as much as areas like Lakewood, where is reporting that thousands were left without power. 

As of 12:24 p.m., only 8 customers were without power in Brecksville, said Mark Durbin of FirstEnergy. He did not know if those outages were due to the rain or the heat.

Yesterday, thousands of customers across the region were without energy due to the high temperatures, reported.
