Brecksville Set to Honor Veterans in Ceremony in Public Square

Tell us how you plan to spend Veterans Day.

Today is Veterans Day, a day to remember all the men and women who have served the country over the years.

In 2010, there were more than 21 million veterans in the United States, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

That’s a lot of stories to tell and people to honor.

Brecksville will be doing its part to honor veterans at 2 p.m. in Public Square. That’s when the Chippewa Garden Club will be dedicating a Blue Star memorial marker to those who have served and to those who will serve the country. More details on the event are available on the club’s website. You can look for coverage of the event on Brecksville Patch later today.

And students in the Brecksville-Broadview Heights schools will be commemorating veterans, as well. Cathy Harbinak, coordinator of community relations, passed along messages from teachers and principals about the special lessons planned for students. They’ll be writing thank you cards, learning about the history of the holiday and hearing from veterans themselves.

How will you honor the veterans in your life today?
