CVCC to Host High School Information Night for Students and Parents

BRECKSVILLE, Ohio – Cuyahoga Valley Career Center (CVCC) will host an Information Night on Thursday, January 17, 2013 (snow date is Thursday, January 24) from 7 to 9 p.m. High school students and their parents are invited to learn more about the specialized career and college preparation opportunities available through the Career Center’s 28 career-technical programs. CVCC Information Night offers program visitation and additional details to help with the decision-making process.

Most CVCC programs have career-technical credit transfer options, enabling students to earn college credit while at CVCC. This is especially desirable in today’s economy, allowing students and parents to save money on college. Many CVCC programs also offer industry certification opportunities.

CVCC’s tuition-free, half-day programs enable high school students to continue their academic studies at their regular high school, while acquiring technical skills at the Career Center. These skills put them ahead of their classmates and prepare them to begin work or continue their education after high school.

Two one-year, senior-only programs, Marketing Technology and Teaching Professions, allows students to “test the waters” in these careers before making a formal commitment to them after high school.

Other two-year CVCC programs include: Auto Body Repair & Refinishing, Auto Service Technology, Building & Property Maintenance, Computer Aided Design, Computer Networking Academy, Construction Trades, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts & Food Services, Dental Assisting, Digital Design, Electrical & Alternative Energy Systems, Engineering Technology, Graphic Imaging Technology, Health Careers, Heating & Air Conditioning, Hotels & Resorts, Job Training, Legal Technology, Machine Technology, Power Equipment Technology, Programming & Software Development, Public Health & Safety, Sales & Service and Transition to Work.

High school students in Brecksville-Broadview Heights, Cuyahoga Heights, Garfield Heights, Independence, Nordonia Hills, North Royalton, Revere and Twinsburg school districts are served by CVCC, which is conveniently located at 8001 Brecksville Rd. in Brecksville, one mile east of the I-77/Wallings Rd. exit (diagonally across from Route 21). For more information, call 440-746-8286.
