Thomas Moore, Partner at Geary, Moore & Ahrens Firm and Volunteer

Calling hours are slated to take place at Nosek-McCreery Funeral Home from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, with the funeral the following day in Independence.

Thomas Lawrence Moore, 85, a partner at the architecture firm Geary, Moore & Ahrens, was remembered as a man who devoted a solid portion of his life to helping others. 

The Brecksville resident died on July 22.

Ted Lux, the director of the Brecksville Human Services Department remembers Moore as a “a gentle, friendly man who possessed such wisdom that if you wanted to get an opinion about almost anything he was the guy you could trust.”

“In my years with the city, I learned that Tom Moore was a person who earned and deserved the respect of all of us,” Lux added.

Moore was a volunteer driver for the Brecksville Human Services Center's free senior transportation program.

In his day, Moore was a Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts and he was designed wheelchair ramps for the Kiwanis program that designs, builds and installs for only the cost of materials.

Moore was also a partner at Geary, Moore & Ahrens, the architecture firm once hired by the city.

He was named Brecksville Senior Volunteer of the Year in 2007.

According to his obituary in the Plain Dealer, Moore was born Sept. 1, 1927 in Akron to Amelia Lawrence Moore and Dr. Davison Moore.

Beloved husband of Barbara (nee Craton) for 62 years; loving father of Elizabeth Thomas (J.R.), Peter (Dee), Margaret Leverton (Jim) and Charles (deceased); cherished grandfather of Carolyn Fesperman (Lance), Benjamin Thomas, Katherine Ward (Gregory), Clayton, Zachary, Owen and Phillip Thomas Moore and Cole Leverton (Michelle); great-grandfather of Chandler Anderson and baby "Ward" due in October.

Calling hours are slated to take place at Nosek-McCreery Funeral Home from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. July 26; and the funeral is set to take place at the Independence Presbyterian Church, 6624 Public Square, Independence, OH 44131 on Saturday, 10:30 a.m. July 27.
