William E. Eckenbrecht, 83, Active Volunteer, Veteran, Businessman

Services will be held Monday evening and Tuesday morning.

William E. Eckenbrecht, of Broadview Heights, died Friday at the age of 83.

is overseeing the services and provided the following information.

Eckenbrecht was survived by his wife, Linda; a son, Carl (Annette) and a daughter, Cecily Hardin (Michael); stepsons Nathan (Tanja) and Joshua (Nida) Huck; grandchildren, Louis and David Eckenbrecht, Melissa White (Andy), Neil Hardin, and Emily Hardin; great grandchildren, Alexander and Addison White; a sister, Mary Clare Brewster and many nieces and nephews. His wife, Carlie Jean Crain, his son, Christopher, and his daughter, Gretchen, are deceased.

Eckenbrecht, who was born in New Orleans, was a U.S. Army veteran and a former employee of International Paper Co. He managed Millcraft Paper’s Cuyahoga Falls, Erie, PA, and Jamestown, NY, offices, and was later named the company’s vice president. After he retired, he volunteered in disaster services for the American Red Cross and was active in .

Visiting hours will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Monday at Nosek-McCreery Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Christ the Redeemer Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends before the service at the church, beginning at 10 a.m.
